Hard not to post about the food in Italy… We would have many amazing meals (and see many cats), but this “crunchy octopus salad” was one of our favorites!

Sep 4

The birthplace of the composer of “Volare” and a spectacular dinner at Merviagloso!

Sep 4

Warm-up ride was on some less than ideal roads…

Sep 6

The Trulli houses in the UNESCO town of Alberobello were truly (pun intended) amazing…

Sep 7

Another day, another UNESCO town… Matera is an amazing town of caves now usable for hotels like ours. After a great riding day, dinner with the group, including our loveable guides, Massimo and Riccardo.

Sep 8

Optional ride to the next hillside and back (down up, down up) and last night in Metera.

Sep 9

One of the longest, steepest climbs we’ve ever done! Earned the views and our beers and local peppers!

Sep 10

The views did not disappoint today…

Touring the monastery…

Sep 11

Another day, another spectacular ride, finally reaching the west coast.

Sep 12

To the west coast of Italy! And bonus ride to Christ the Redeemer which you can see from everywhere.

Sep 13

On our own in Maratea. Tomato toast at the beach. Dinner at the marina.

Sep 14

Off to Naples – train, drinks, museums, food (stuffed squash blossoms were the best), and view of the station from our room.

Sep 15

Last day in Naples. LOTS of walking and several amazing museums (including Jago). Best Neopolitan pizza.
